Paper Pay Check Distribution Changes

 Permanent link

Attention All Employees:

In an effort to automate processes and eliminate problems in the distribution of paper checks, Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) is promoting Direct Deposit. Direct deposit allows paperless transmittal between PGCPS and banking institutions and provides a safe, reliable method for ensuring employee’s receipt of their pay.

Direct deposit provides assurance that an employee’s pay will be in their bank account on payday even if severe weather such as a hurricane, snow day or other circumstances (e.g., power outage) may prevent employees’ from picking up their pay check or having their pay check delivered to their work location. Direct deposit is safe, simple, and secure; and with direct deposit there are no lost checks.  Direct deposit of pay is available to all employees including temporary employees and substitute staff.

Effective March 28, 2014, PGCPS will no longer allow employees to pick up checks or deliver checks to work locations. All checks will be mailed to the employees’ address on record. No exceptions or accommodations will be authorized.

If you are NOT on direct deposit, you need to check your home mailing address on Oracle Self Service to ensure it is correct!

So sign up today for Direct Deposit using Oracle Self-Service!

You will be glad you did!!

Please see the Treasury Operations website http://www1.pgcps.org/treasury/ for information to enroll or call 301-952-6070 for assistance.

2014 exempt tax status

 Permanent link

Employees who currently claim exempt from Federal and/or Maryland State income tax withholding should be made aware that this exemption from withholding requires an annual filing of the Form W-4/MW-507 per IRS regulations and Maryland state tax law. Employees that are eligible to continue claiming exempt from Federal and/or Maryland State withholding tax for calendar year 2014 must complete a new form W-4(Federal)/MW-507(State) between January 1, 2014 and February 7, 2014, otherwise the tax withholding status will revert back to “Single” and “Zero”.  A tax withholding status of “Single” and “Zero” allocates the maximum amount of taxes allowed (Federal and State) to be withheld. For further information, please refer to the IRS Circular E. The W-4(Federal)/MW-507(State) can be completed in Oracle Self Service under Federal Tax Form and State Tax Form.
